Endoscopy:
a general term for undergoing a procedure that uses a
flexible video scope to examine the esophagus, stomach, duodenum,
and small intestines.
Esophago-Gastro-Duodenoscopy
(EGD): passage of a flexible lighted tube to view the
lining of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. If necessary, we
take tissue samples (biopsy) for microscopic examination and remove
polyps by cautery.
Colonoscopy: passage of a flexible lighted tube to view the lining
of the colon. If necessary, we take tissue samples (biopsy) for
